Gaining momentum

This morning, my weight was 144.8#, down 1.0# from yesterday. I seem to be gaining momentum! Still, I don’t think I’ll make it down to the normal weight range by my last dosing day on Monday. I need to get down to 138.8# to do that.

My size 8 pants feel rather roomy. I’ve been trying on my size 6 pants. I can get them buttoned up and zipped, but there’s still too much muffin top to wear them.

Thinking ahead toward P3

This morning’s weight was 145.8#, down 0.8# since yesterday. I did a calculation over the course of the hCG, and I’ve lost on average 0.45# per day, including the uptick for the loading days. That’s about twice what I’ve lost on the next best plan, which was Medifast. So am I happy with my results? Yes!

I’m pretty much counting the days now until I switch to the low-carb phase, which will be July 15. The low-carb version of the Deli Rueben Casserole that I served to hubby last night is on my list of things to try then. Homemade nacho cheese sauce is on the list, too. I modified a recipe for that to be lower carb as well. The first day of low-carb will be a Thursday. I’m thinking about dropping in on my chiropractor’s networking group that day. I’ll get a free breakfast, plus I might decide to join them.

On plan for the holiday

This morning, I weighed 146.6#, up 0.4# from yesterday. I’m not too concerned about that. I’d had some dramatic losses the last couple of days.

One of the reasons I was so busy Friday and Saturday was because I had booked in a last minute hypnotherapy client into an already busy schedule. Normally, I would not have booked her in on such heavily scheduled days, but she was from out of the country and was only here a couple of days. We managed to squeeze in two weight loss sessions while she was here. Normally, I would have spaced the sessions out a week apart, but that just wasn’t an option in this case. I made CDs for her of both sessions, so at least she’ll be able to use those in proper timing.

Yesterday, for Fourth of July, I decided to grill. I bought a huge ribeye steak for hubby and grilled some kabobs for myself. I pretty much stayed on track with it except that I could not find affordable grass-fed beef for yesterday. I ended up buying conventional sirloin instead.

I’m getting restless for the very low calorie part of the diet to be over, and I’m looking forward to the low-carb part. My last day of hCG will be July 11. (That’s when I’ll run out.) I get to start eating low-carb on July 15. Last night, I was thinking about how homemade nacho cheese dip might taste on breakfast eggs. I can hardly wait.

Time at the theater

Yesterday morning, my weight was 147.4#, down 1.8# from the prior day. This morning, my weight was 146.2#, down 1.2# from yesterday. Whatever caused me to gain weight earlier this week seems to have corrected itself. I’m thinking it had to do with the apple day. At least things are going in the right direction again. I took another set of measurements. I’m definitely losing more inches, too.

The last couple of days have been very busy, as you might have gathered since I did not post yesterday. I was so pressed for time that I decided to repeat a meal on Friday. I needed something I could put together fairly quickly, and I knew a particular dish would meet that requirement. I spent a lot of time over the last few days at the movie theater doing trailer checks and materials checks. The smell of the popcorn was really getting to me. It will be sometime in August before I can consider eating popcorn. Oh, and I should mention that there is a Cinnabon next to the theater as well. This job definitely has hazards!

Sudden jump

This morning, my weight was 149.2#, up 2.6# from yesterday. I’m not sure what the cause of that was. I haven’t cheated. I’ve been doing everything pretty much the same. I did a spot check on my waist measurement, and at least that is unchanged.

MSG

This morning, I weighed 146.6#, up 0.2# from yesterday.

I’ve been reading “HCG Diet Made Simple” by Harmony Clearwater Grace. She mentioned in it that MSG is used by scientists to induce obesity in rats. I actually found a link about that: “MSG and Obesity.” It is thought that the MSG damages the hypothalamus, which is the organ that we are trying to fix with the hCG diet. I thought about the store brand broth I was using in my recipes and wondered if it had MSG in it. When I checked the label, it said on the front that it had no MSG. Whew!

Artificial sweeteners

This morning, my weight was 146.4#, down 0.4# from yesterday. Apparently, my apple day losses have held.

I got an email from Dr. Sears about artificial sweeteners: Here’s part of it:

“When your drink contains aspartame, sucralose, or any other artificial sweetener, you over-stimulate your sweetness receptors. It changes the way you think about the way things should taste.

“You crave high-intensity sweetness. And naturally sweet foods like fruit don’t taste as good to you. Vegetables lose their appeal, because they’re not sweet.

“Your gut has sweetness receptors, too. It’s all ready to absorb nutrients, so you get a surge in hormones, like insulin. But when the calories don’t arrive, your body tells your brain to go out and get them.

“Your appetite increases, and you get cravings that cause you to overeat. What’s worse, you turn to high-carbohydrate foods and sweets to make up the calorie void.

“But now, the insulin you’ve poured into your blood tells your body to turn whatever you do eat into fat.

“I read one study of almost 2,600 people. Those who drank diet sodas had a 47 percent higher body mass index (BMI) than those who didn’t, and their risk of obesity was doubled.”

He goes on to recommend fruity solutions as well as honey and raw, whole sugar.

All of that stuff about how the sweetness affects us has me wondering if maybe stevia isn’t such a good idea, either.

Apple aftermath

This morning, my weight was 146.8#, down 1.8# since yesterday and for the week.

So yesterday was an apple day. It wasn’t too bad. The most difficult thing was not drinking fluids. I did think about food a lot. I found a nice recipe for stevia cheesecake with only 2.0 net carbs per serving. I’m looking forward to making that for P3. Stevia sweetened clouds are on my list of things to try, too. I got The Stevia Cookbook in the mail yesterday. A lot of the recipes have flour in them, though, so they really aren’t good for P3.

Making the last batch of the round

This morning, my weight was 148.4#, down 0.2# from yesterday. Apparently, I am still experiencing a “Menstrual Interruption,” as Dr. Simeons called it. I considered doing an apple day today, but Dr. Simeons did not say anything about doing apple days to break a plateau resulting from TOM. He did say, “The fourth type of interruption is the one which often occurs a few days before and during the menstrual period and in some women at the time of ovulation.” I guess I’ll just wait it out.

I finished up my second batch of sublingual hCG. I made up my last batch this morning. I have decided to continue hCG until I run out, which should be an extra three days, since each batch lasts 15 days.
