How many times over the years have you tried to lose weight? How many different plans have you tried? How successful were you at it? I have tried several times myself. I checked my records to see how successful I was with each diet at the six week mark. This is what I found:
Date | Age | Diet | Starting Weight | Weight at Six Weeks | Weight Lost |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
December 2006 | 45 | Medifast | 179.0# | 165.4# | 13.6# |
December 2007 | 46 | NutriSystem | 164.0# | 156.4# | 7.6# |
April 2009 | 47 | Atkins | 155.0# | 153.8# | 1.2# |
June 2009 | 47 | Medifast | 151.8# | 142.2# | 9.6# |
July 2010 | 48 | HCG Diet (Standard) | 163.8# | 143.0# | 20.8# |
I am female, 5’3″. |
As you can see, by far the most effective of these for me was the HCG Diet. (Your results may vary.)
The HCG Diet is an off-label protocol that combines use of small doses of Human Chorionic Gonadotrophin (hCG) with a specific very low calorie diet as presented in Pounds and Inches by A.T.W. Simeons M. D. Since it is an off-label protocol, it has not been declared safe or effective by the FDA.
Even so, as I did my research prior to starting the diet, time and again I found success stories—not just of the weight loss properties of the diet, but also of long-term success at maintaining the loss once accomplished. The diet promised to reset my metabolism so that I would not gain the weight back. Since at the time I was gaining weight at a fairly high rate, this benefit particularly appealed to me. I decided to take the risk and give it a try. I chose to dose sublingually with pharmaceutical hCG. I used the recipe at All Day Chemist. As you can see in the table above, the initial weight loss phase has been phenomenally successful. It remains to be seen if I will get the metabolic benefits I am hoping for.
